Run, Elisabeth, Run!

Today was a big day for Elisabeth....she ran a half-mile in her school's annual Pumpkin Run! She has been training for this run for over a month now. She even joined the Running Club at school so she could train and practice after school with her PE teacher...and she didn't even complain when we got hit with a cold spell a few weeks ago and she had to spend 45 minutes running outside in 40-degree weather!

The Westminster police blocked the streets off and provided a police escort. All the kids had official race bibs. It was a very well-organized event! Kudos to Elisabeth's PE teacher for starting such a fun tradition and getting the kids so excited about running.

Allison and I joined hundreds of other students and parents, and lined the race route to cheer the kids on (Fred was on an airplane flying home, so unfortunately he couldn't join us). Elisabeth had her own little cheering section.
On your mark....get set....GO! (If you look closely, you can see the snow-capped mountains in the background.)
There she goes! GO ELISABETH! The police escort led the way to the finish line with lights flashing and sirens blaring. Elisabeth ran toward the finish line with a huge grin on her face! She was so proud of herself, and we're very proud of her too! Way to go, Elisabeth!
