After Mass, we followed tradition and went out to dinner. We decided to try Lucky Pie in Louisville, a unique pizza place and craft brew pub that only uses local organic ingredients. The girls weren't too impressed with the food, but Fred and I really liked the pizza and my beer was pretty tasty too!
On the way home, we stopped. by to see an amazing Christmas lights display. Ever since we moved out here, I have heard about a house in Broomfield that goes overboard with Christmas lights. I asked Fred to stop by Tincup Circle on our way home so we could see for ourselves just how outrageous these lights were. Wow -- the people who live on Tincup Circle definitely know how to put Clark Griswold to shame. The lights were BRIGHT and there was so much to see. Every single part of their house and yard had lights or decorations or SOMETHING. There were several cars waiting to turn onto the street (including one truck that was stuck in the snow -- our hero Fred got out and helped push the car out of the snow. That marked the 2nd time in 2 days that Fred has rescued someone stuck in the snow. On Friday he rescued our mail lady who got her USPS truck stuck in the snow in front of our house trying to deliver last-minute packages to people!) and the lights were absolutely blinding. I think I experienced a temporary moment of ADHD just by looking at this house. No pictures, but you can view the house on YouTube if you so desire by clicking here. I think Elisabeth summed it up best when she asked, "How much is their electric bill?!"
Once home, the girls were allowed to open one present before we left cookies and water out for Santa (Elisabeth reasoned that milk would go sour, and Santa is fat enough that he doesn't need a beer), read The Night Before Christmas and other Christmas stories, and finally went to bed. We didn't leave any food for the reindeer, which may explain why we didn't find any messes on our front porch this morning!!
This morning, Elisabeth was the first one up. She ran downstairs to see if Santa came. Then she quickly woke everyone else up. The girls were very excited to see that Santa left them just what they asked for: two robots and a Barbie cruise ship for Elisabeth, and a doll bunk bed (which her beloved dog, Peyton (who used to be called 'Melms'), was sitting on) and Baby Alive (that pees and poops!) for Allison! Thanks, Santa! Plus,we had a gazillion presents under the tree to open.
We have a turkey cooking and a feast awaiting us, so Christmas isn't over quite yet! Merry Christmas to all!
