Rising Star

Tonight, FLEA ventured down to the south side of Denver to attend a University of Denver basketball game.  Elisabeth was selected as a Rising Star in the Denver area for her achievements, contributions, and attitude, and was recognized along with other Rising Stars at the game.  (Please note:  her achievements do NOT include sticking beads in her ear!)   Her school nominated her for this honor.

Her certificate says, "We are proud to present this certificate as formal recognition of your outstanding academic accomplishments and character.  As one of the future leaders of our society, we encourage you to continue to work hard, act with integrity, and pursue excellence in everything."

And here is our FUTURE Rising Star!  She experienced a little wardrobe crisis before we left home, but managed to resolve it with the help of her Rising Star sister.  She even brought my beloved Grandma's black sequin purse along, with gloves, a stuffed cat, and fashion mirror tucked inside.

Tomorrow is the big day:  Elisabeth is scheduled to have outpatient surgery at Children's Hospital in Denver to remove The Bead.  We were initially supposed to be at the hospital at 9am, with surgery scheduled to begin at 11am.  That has now been moved up; surgery now starts at noon.  I suspect it will be a long morning for our Rising Star, as she won't be able to eat anything at all and can only have clear liquids until 9am.  Stay tuned for updates!
