Grandma's Girls

We got to see lots of special people this weekend. Yesterday, we went to Grand Rapids to celebrate my goddaughter Katie's 2nd birthday. She is such a sweet little girl and always smiling. Allison had lots of fun riding around with Katie, and Elisabeth loved playing with her "special boyfriends," Katie's older brothers. And of course, I was happy to spend some time with my oldest friend (their mom and Elisabeth's godmother)! It's always so fun to watch our kids play together and have as much fun as we did when we were growing up.

Today, we celebrated Grandma H's birthday in Holland today. Here's Grandma with all her girls!

Grandpa took us for our first boat ride on Lake Michigan this season, and Allison got to sit in the captain's seat for the first time. I thought maybe she'd grab the steering wheel and show Grandpa how to drive, but instead, she sat back and enjoyed the ride. Allison wasn't a big fan of going slow -- she liked it much better when Grandpa stepped on the gas. Elisabeth's class is talking about boat safety and lighthouses this week, so she was especially excited to see Big Red!
