Four Generations and Gene

We went to Romeo for a quick visit this weekend, and also took a little trip out to Port Huron to visit Great-Grandma Bauer. She turns 84 tomorrow! We had a nice visit with her and we even got a family picture spanning 4 generations.
After watching the Spartans whip Northwestern, we drove back home late last night because Elisabeth had Sunday School today.

It was such a beautiful day today that we decided to go visit Gene the Pumpkin Man.

Anyone who has driven on M-43 west of Kalamazoo knows who Gene is; you can't drive down M-43 and not notice where he lives. His barn is orange, his car is orange, his house is orange, and he has been selling pumpkins for 51 years. This guy loves pumpkins and the color orange. We've driven past his house (and laughed) for 3.5 years now, and we finally went there for the first time today to get some pumpkins. Gene himself was there and he was wearing -- what else -- an orange shirt. He sells nothing but pumpkins and squash. When we were there, Elisabeth asked for some apple cider and donuts. We had to explain to her that this was just a pumpkin farm -- no hayrides, no pony rides, no donuts, no cider -- just pumpkins and squash. FLEA can now cross Gene the Pumpkin Man's farm off our "been there, done that" list, although I suspect we'll still laugh a little every time we drive by.
