The birthday girl kicked things off on Friday by bringing a treat to school to share with her friends. She chose to bring two of her favorite things -- red grapes and Hershey bars.
On Saturday, she got a special birthday phone call from Grandma with Brown Hair, who is cruising on a ship somewhere warm right now. Later, we went out to dinner to celebrate her birthday. In our house, the birthday girl/boy gets to pick where we go out for dinner. Allison decided she wanted to go to the restaurant "where the fire was." In other words, she wanted to go to the same Japanese steakhouse and hibachi restaurant where we celebrated Elisabeth's birthday last month. Allison enjoyed the presentation by the hibachi chef, but barely touched her dinner of chicken, rice, and corn. Instead, she saved room in her tummy for the special dessert that they brought out for her.
She got to open an early birthday present when we got home from dinner -- a changing station for her baby dolls!This morning, she woke up and decided that she should be able to open another present first thing because, after all, it's her birthday! I couldn't argue with her logic, so I let her pick out a gift to open. She was very excited to get her first Polly Pockets from her friend Campbell. She had a blast playing with her new Polly Pocket dolls all morning.Then it was off to church preschool; she brought a snack to share with her class. She chose to bring red grapes and M&M's. Anyone want to guess what Allison's current favorite fruit is??After church, it was time to go pick up one of her two cakes:
We Skyped with Grandma and Grandpa and they got to watch her open their present and listen to her put on another show with the Hannah Montana guitar that they gave her for Christmas last month.
Then it was off to the movies so we could see Tangled. Allison has been counting down the days until we'd go to the theater to see Tangled. Glad we caught it while it's still playing on the big screen!When we got home, she opened a gift from her big sister -- a pop-up princess castle that the girls call "the hut." It was a big hit! The castle was relocated to the royal bedroom:
Since the birthday girl has swimming lessons on Sundays, I insisted that she take a nap so she'd have some energy left for her swim teacher. Princess Elisabeth decided it'd be a great idea to take a nap, too. The two princesses insisted on napping inside the castle (check out Allison's static electricity hair!):
We got to the pool a little early so we could play on the indoor playground and splash around a bit before lessons started...
...then it was back home for dinner (Allison decided we were all going to feast on chicken nuggets, corn-on-the-cob, and milk) and the birthday celebration finale!I am very proud to report that I actually remembered to pick up some birthday candles, so there was no need to get the good ol' tapers out. The birthday girl ended up with 2 cakes -- I'm still not sure how that happened, but two is better than one, right?
Our little girl had a fabulous birthday weekend and is having a blast being four! Thanks to everyone who called (especially Campbell and Uncle Jeff -- sorry we missed you!), Skyped, emailed, and sent cards. Happy birthday, Nugget!!

Okay you do more in one day then we do in a week! I knew you had somehow managed to add more hours into a day - spill the secrets please! We are so happy Alison had such a fun filled birthday. Our present will be fashionably late so she can celebrate all over again! - Nora
Looks like Allison had a wonderful Birthday weekend. Campbell loved the cake she picked out. How exciting to be four and fabulous!
