A few weeks ago, we pulled Elisabeth out of Primrose and signed her up for BASE (Before and After School Enrichment) at her school. Her friends Greta and Erica also defected from Primrose at the same time; we started a little revolution! So far the switch to BASE has been a wonderful change for everyone involved, and Elisabeth has wasted no time getting involved in all the after-school activities available at BASE. We already mentioned the math club she was invited to join; she has also joined the Mad Science club, a LEGO robotics club, and this week she started bike club!
Allison continues to amuse us every day. She is doing great with her letters and numbers, can write her full name, and often writes our first names on her pictures at school. She tells her teachers, "This picture is for Lynn to take to work." It cracks me up when she calls us by our first names. She recently sent a card to Grandma and Grandpa H. that she wrote herself. If I recall correctly, it included her favorite 4-letter word (FART), her name, a few happy faces, a few sad faces, and maybe even a peace sign. 
A few weeks ago, Elisabeth had a roller skating party at school. Allison said she wanted to come, and asked me if I'd teach her how to roller skate. We strapped our skates on and spent about 20 minutes sliding recklessly all over the rink (it was not a pretty sight) before she took a hard fall to the tailbone and decided she was done. I was proud of her for trying!
Remember last year when we had a very stubborn robin insist on building a nest on our front porch, despite the fact that Fred tried to chase the birds away several times? They're baaaaack! A few weeks ago I noticed a bunch of nesting material appear on our porch. I remembered last year, the nesting material appeared right before they started building. Fred went to Home Depot to get some spikes to discourage them from getting too comfortable on our porch, but it was too late. Before Fred could even get the spikes up, they had their nest completed. Birds: 1. Fred: 0. 
Yesterday was our neighborhood's annual Easter egg hunt. Allison has had a hacking cough for a few days so she had to miss out on the fun. Since Fred is gone this weekend (he's actually in Michigan right now), I bummed Elisabeth off to a neighbor so she could still participate, and she had a blast! She came home with about 50 eggs full of candy and other goodies. No pictures from the egg hunt, other than this one that another neighbor took at the start: 
A few weeks ago, I saw a great deal on zulily (daily online coupon site) that offered 50% off Crocs. We live about 15 minutes from the Crocs' world headquarters, yet we never see fabulous deals on Crocs out here. Both girls scored some new Crocs and were very excited when they arrived. Elisabeth's new Crocs have sparkles around the outside border and a big rhinestone-studded jibbitz, and Allison's have big flower jibbitz. The best part is they are "shoe" Crocs so the girls can wear them to school. Crocs with open toes and/or open heels are considered a "safety hazard" are banned by many schools out here.
Both girls are still in swimming lessons. Allison has passed her last 2 classes and can comfortably go under water, and Elisabeth just started a new session of private lessons and is doing awesome. Her new teacher has been working with her on her breathing and front stroke, and she is doing great going underwater without holding her nose! Both girls should be ready to hit the neighborhood pool when it opens in 4 weeks! Yippee!! Hoppy spring!
