Pumpkin Run!

Today was the annual Pumpkin Run at Elisabeth's school. She successfully completed the half-mile run and did AWESOME!

She ate a breakfast of champions and was ready to RUN!First graders lining up at the start:

Out of the 130 first graders who ran the half-mile, we're proud to report that Elisabeth was in the first group of finishers! She had started the race in the back of the crowd and managed to break ahead to the front! We weren't really paying attention to how many kids finished before her (and the school doesn't keep track either, as it's supposed to be a fun run in which EVERYONE wins just for participating), but she may even have placed 12th or 15th! I just know I wasn't quite ready for her to come running around the corner heading for the finish line as soon as she did! You can see from the picture below that she had left everyone in her dust and was heading for the finish line without a single competitor in sight! (The people lining the street cheering her on are older classes/grades.)

Apparently, the pumpkin that Elisabeth got to pick out after the race wasn't a good one It cracked right in half before we could bring it inside. At least that made it easy for us to retrieve the seeds so we can toast them! Way to go, Elisabeth! We're proud of you!
