Elisabeth is very excited about her new pink coat and matching snowpants, and hasn't even complained about the fact that she won't be getting a matching pink hat, mittens, or boots until next winter. She was outgrowing her old purple coat and snowpants, and when a few teeth broke off the coat zipper and prevented her from zipping it all the way up, we bought her a new coat and snowpants that will fit her next winter, too. In the meantime, I've sent the purple coat back to Columbia Sportswear to see if they'll make good on their quality guarantee (since we intended to have Allison wear that coat in a few years). We'll see how Columbia customer service checks out! 
Allison is battling her second ear infection this winter. I'll spare you the gory details, but let's just say this one doesn't seem to be clearing up too well despite being on strong antibiotics for a week now. We go back to the ped next week, so we'll see what they say.
In other Allison news, it looks like the crib is living on borrowed time and it might soon be time to convert it to a big girl bed. Naptime and bedtime have been rather difficult lately, to say the least, and Allison will no longer let me put her in her crib without putting up a good fight. Yesterday she attempted to escape at naptime...and succeeded. She flipped out, hit her head, and landed on the floor with an earth-shattering thud. She's okay now (and my heart rate has returned to normal, too), although she still points to her head and says "Owie!" when we talk about how it's not safe to jump out of bed. Let's hope she doesn't pull that stunt again anytime soon.Last but not least, we're looking forward to having Fred back in Michigan for 10 days this month! Elisabeth has been working on a special Valentine's Day gift for him and is excited that she'll be able to give it to him in person!
