Snow!

Last Thursday, mass hysteria set in as the greater Denver area prepared for the latest Snowmaggedon.  Stores ran out of food, liquor stores reported that people were purchasing items as if it were Friday, not Thursday.  Events were canceled in anticipation of the blizzard.  We were told to prepare for up to 22 inches of the white stuff, plus whiteout conditions.  I'll admit I had my doubts: was this "blizzard" going to be as big and bad as everyone was claiming?  As one of my friends told me, "I'm going to be really ticked if we end up getting 3 inches after all this hype."  

Elisabeth was hoping for a snow day.  She didn't have school last Thursday or Friday due to conferences and furloughs, but she was signed up for a day camp with some friends on Friday.  She wanted a snow day, even if she already had the day off from school!  She wore her shirt inside-out to bed, hoping it would bring a snow day.

We woke up Friday morning to a winter wonderland.  Sure enough, the blizzard had come and dumped plenty of snow on us as we slept Thursday night.   Three Denver snowfall records were shattered (including a 103-year old record!)  Depending on which source you believe, we got between 19 and 23 inches of snow in Westminster.  I checked the school closings and sure enough -- Elisabeth's program was canceled/closed, and so was my campus.  Yippee!!  Snow day for everyone AND a 3-day weekend to boot!  The girls had a blast playing in the snow.  We even got some good ol' sledding in.
