Camping

The weekend before school started, Elisabeth's Brownie troop went camping in the mountains near Estes Park, CO.  Girl Scouts of Colorado owns Meadow Mountain Ranch just outside Rocky Mountain National Park.  It is a beautiful piece of property!  We had a great mother-daughter weekend in the mountains!  

Home for the next 2 nights - a sleeping bag!  At least we had 4 walls, a roof, heat, hot water, electricity and - most importantly -  a coffee maker!

Self-portrait during a break on our extra long hike.  We took a few wrong turns on the trails and got LOST in the mountains just as some angry storm clouds blew in.  Fortunately, we found our way back to camp AND beat the storm!

After we FINALLY found our way back to camp after taking a few wrong turns on the mountain trails.  Elisabeth declared it the "worst hike EVER!"

All the Cotton Creek Girl Scouts at the campfire on our last night.  We were supposed to join all the other troops camping at the ranch for a big bonfire....but of course we showed up at the WRONG campfire!

Us women had a hard time getting the fire started...I joked that maybe we needed some Boy Scouts to help us?  One of the other moms eventually got the fire started and yelled, "Who needs Boy Scouts when you have MOM SCOUTS?!"
