On St. Patrick's Day, I took took Elisabeth's training wheels off (at her request) and lowered the seat of her bike. We decided to start out on grass (so it wouldn't hurt as much if there were any falls), so we headed to the backyard for a little practice. It took a couple of tries before she figured out how to maintain her balance, and all of a sudden she was zooming around the backyard like Lance Armstrong. She caught on very quickly!
After a few hours, we moved to the garage so she could practice riding on pavement. She probably spent 4 hours practicing that first day and did awesome! The very next day, she rode her bike all the way around the block while Allison and I ran behind her trying to keep up. She's been practicing every single day since then! 
At first, we kept it a secret from Fred because Elisabeth wanted to surprise him. She kept telling me, "Daddy is going to be so surprised when he finds out that I can ride my bike that his jaw is going to hit the floor!" We were initially going to surprise him by posting a video on FLEA Bites, but my laptop and the camcorder are not getting along, so I haven't been able to upload any video footage of our biker. So then Elisabeth decided that she wanted to wait until Fred comes home next so she can show him what she learned.
Last night, we were talking to Fred on Skype (via the web cam) and Elisabeth just couldn't resist telling him the big news. We took my laptop out to the garage so Fred could watch her riding via the web cam. He was quite impressed and very proud! Elisabeth is so proud of herself, too, and can't wait for Daddy to come home next weekend so she can ride around the block with him!
